Resume Writing Certification - Does it Really Matter?

Resume Writing Certification - Does it Really Matter? One question I've been asked by clients is whether or not it is necessary to have a degree when they are applying for a job as a writer. I always respond that a degree can be useful in many other areas. But at the same time, this question needs to be asked. The answer to this question comes from two points: a credential as a professional writer's skill. There is no doubt that a credential has value. But you have to be careful not to jump the gun and overstate what a diploma from a community college can do for you.For example, the University of Oregon has a program called the 'Professional Writer' degree. This is a course which offers a certificate with a specialization in proofreading. There is a certificate requirement. You can call this a writing certification if you like. But remember that this degree can be helpful only if you want to be a professional proofreader. It cannot bring you to an entirely different level of writing.Thi s is why you have to be careful when you ask whether a degree or writing certification is necessary for a job as a professional writer. It is a credential in many contexts. But in writing jobs, it has value only if you are a professional writer. When you are looking for a job as a professional writer, the first thing you should ask yourself is whether or not you have a writing certification. If the answer is yes, then you can be confident that you will get hired if you have that credential. This means that your resume will make a good impression on the hiring manager. And you will get the kind of results you expect from your work.Buthow many certificates do you need? Here is a suggestion:If you write fiction, you need to have a certificate in English composition; you may also need to have a special type of certificate in literary criticism. The real difference between the two kinds of literature is that the former requires a higher level of expertise and specialized knowledge of the subject matter while the latter doesn't.These days, there are also certificates in film editing. The demand for these courses is always high. You don't need a certificate in film editing to write a compelling film script.A degree in the field of communications is usually what is called a 'communications degree' or a 'communication certificate.' If you go for a post-graduate degree, you will still be able to get employment without a degree. In this case, you would still need a degree in creative writing or creative nonfiction. It is up to you to decide what degree you need. Can you get your work published without a degree? The only way to answer this question is to get a degree. To do this, you need to prepare a solid resume.
